Biography
William Kelly was a Florida-born defendant in the federal prosecution known as the Tucson Six. Prosecutors accused six men of a conspiracy to obtain weapons for the Irish Republican Army. A contemporary Tucson account describes local supporters visiting all six defendants as prisoners at the federal correctional institution and helping secure bail for members of the group. Kelly denied knowing the four Irish-born defendants. After a two-month trial, all six were acquitted in April 1994.
