Biography
William J. Davis was arrested with Victor Aronson in New Orleans on Monday, November 25, 1929, after distributing the Labor Defender and union literature at cotton mills. Police accused them of advocating destruction of the United States government. The November 29 issue reports both men still jailed with Marine Workers League members John S. Morgan and Leonard Brown. It establishes detention over several days but supplies no physical release or completed custody total. This named New Orleans defendant is not merged with the separate Everett IWW defendant William Davis. The December 2, 1929 report says the Marine Workers League organizers had been released on $500 bail and were rearrested Friday, November 29 on a seditious-literature accusation. The bail interruption prevents treating the November detentions as one proven continuous interval. Exact release from the rearrest is unreported. Daily Worker, December 2, 1929, original PDF page 1.
