Biography

William Cruden was president of Fargo Drivers Local 173 during its 1935 strike. Contemporary New Militant reporting identifies him among sixteen defendants convicted in the strike prosecution. On February 23, 1935 he received six months at hard labor. An editorial update in the April 6 issue reports all sixteen released on bail; the six months was an imposed sentence, not six months actually served. Exact initial custody and release dates and completed time served are not supplied. Source: https://www.themilitant.com/1935/0116/NM0116.pdf#page=2
