Biography

William Barnshal was a seaman arrested after a confrontation at the Seamen’s Institute in New York in late July 1929. The report describes police clubbing the seamen, taking them to the 54th Street Magistrate’s Court and holding them on a disorderly-conduct accusation while supporters raised five-hundred-dollar bail. These allegations are attributed to the contemporary newspaper. The announced August 30 hearing is not a release date.
