Biography
Wilfredo Estrada Adorno was imprisoned for civil disobedience against U.S. Navy operations in Vieques in 2001. The University of Puerto Rico’s UNESCO Chair for Peace records this imprisonment on page 36 of its Fourth Distinguished Lecture, held on August 28, 2001, and published in 2006. Footnote 12 identifies Estrada as spokesperson for the Coalición Ecuménica pro Vieques and states that he was arrested during the April 2001 maneuvers and remained imprisoned at the time of the lecture.
The available account establishes historical imprisonment, but does not supply an exact arrest day, an individual sentence or release date. His case retains year precision while the sequence of the reported 2001 arrests is reviewed.
