Biography

Walter Wolski was arrested in November 1917 in the roundup of IWW members in Omaha, Nebraska. After over eighteen months in local jails, all charges against him were dropped.

The March 1920 One Big Union Monthly prisoner roster provides a contemporaneous procedural account. The roster lists an Omaha federal conspiracy indictment dated September 21, 1918, and bail of $10,000. Latchem reports December 13, 1918 release from the Omaha prosecution followed by immediate rearrest for proposed deportation to Mexico, then release on $500 bond February 10, 1919. These are successive legal bases of detention, not proof of a completed deportation or unbroken custody throughout the entire case.
