Biography

Walter Pasewalk was arrested in November 1917 in the roundup of IWW members in Omaha, Nebraska. After over 18 months in local jails, all charges against him were dropped.

The March 1920 One Big Union Monthly prisoner roster provides a contemporaneous procedural account. The roster lists an Omaha federal conspiracy indictment dated September 21, 1918, and bail of $10,000. This attributed indictment report differs from existing no-indictment wording; neither account is silently replaced. Latchem’s correction says Pasewalk was indicted September 21, 1918, pleaded guilty October 19, transferred to Dodge County Jail, and released December 28, 1918 on $500 cash bond. This directly conflicts with the older no-indictment/no-trial wording; it supplies no individual imposed term.
