Biography

Walter Miller, a thirty-five-year-old Black worker, was sentenced to death after a one-day Huntsville trial, according to the May 12 report. Accused of assaulting and killing Vivian Woodward, he reportedly twice narrowly escaped lynching. Five other arrested young Black men were released. The report challenges the prosecution as a frame-up amid official lynch agitation. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1936/v13-n115-NY-may-13-1936-DW-Q.pdf#page=2
