Biography

Dr. W. G. Anderson was the leader of the Albany Movement, the broad desegregation campaign in Albany, Georgia. He was among those arrested in the December 1961 mass demonstrations in which some 750 people — including Martin Luther King Jr. — were jailed.

Zinn identifies Dr. William G. Anderson among the leaders arrested with Martin Luther King Jr. and Ralph Abernathy during the December 16, 1961 Albany march and transferred to the Sumter County jail at Americus.
