Biography

Vincent Manchica was a shoe worker and picket seriously wounded in a stabbing attributed by the Daily Worker to an Arthur Bender Shoe Company hired attacker. The June 20, 1929 issue reported that, weak from blood loss, he was taken from Bellevue’s prison ward to Essex Market Court and arraigned on an assault charge before Judge Henry Goodman. Judge George W. Simpson set $1,000 bail. The article establishes detention in the prison ward but not the duration of custody or a completed sentence.
