Biography
Vernell Dieudonne was a Lincoln University student arrested in Oxford, Pennsylvania on January 11, 1950 after he and other Black students refused to move to the segregated section of the Oxford Theatre. The students sued the theater manager and arresting officers. On June 11, 1953 a federal judge awarded damages and barred further enforcement of theater segregation. The surviving record does not establish how long Dieudonne remained in custody after the arrest.
