Biography
Ura V. Aschliman was a Mennonite conscientious objector from Ohio imprisoned during World War I. Court-martialed for refusing military service, he was held at Fort Leavenworth. Sentenced to 5 years. (Documented in the Swarthmore College Peace Collection's World War I Conscientious Objectors database.) Archival note: sent to Ft. Thomas & to Camp Sheridan; sentenced to 5 years; imprisoned at Ft. Leavenworth sometime between October 22-26, 1918; discharged June 20, 1919; courts-martial #119350 or #14856
