Biography

Tom Trent was election manager for a workers’ aldermanic campaign in Chicago’s Third Ward. Page 3’s February 3 dispatch reports that American Legion men beat him and then brought assault-and-battery charges against him, and that he was in jail. The article places the attack within Democratic-machine intimidation of workers’ candidates, including George Racz. It does not establish an arrest day, verdict, sentence, release or actual detention length.
