Biography
Tom Ross was arrested in November 1917 in the roundup of IWW members in Omaha, Nebraska. After over eighteen months in local jails, all charges against him were dropped.
The March 1920 One Big Union Monthly prisoner roster provides a contemporaneous procedural account. The roster lists an Omaha federal conspiracy indictment dated September 21, 1918, and bail of $10,000. This attributed indictment report differs from existing no-indictment wording; neither account is silently replaced. Latchem’s April 12 letter names him in the November 13, 1917 Omaha convention arrests, individually reports release on 1918-12-13 on $1,000 bond, and says the last group of 27 was indicted September 21, 1918. This corroborates the recorded bail endpoint but contradicts the older no-indictment wording. No continuous exact total or later dismissal is inferred.
