Biography

Tom Johnson was reported jailed under $1,000 bail on inciting-to-riot, obstructing-legal-process and intimidating-an-officer charges after unemployed workers bought a McKeesport family’s household goods for one dollar at a May 21, 1934 constable sale and returned them to the family. The June 7 report gives no exact arrest day, release or complete custody total. It supplies no identity bridge to the already recorded Cleveland/Deep South organizer Tom Johnson, so the name is qualified.
