Biography

Tom Epps, a 53-year-old Black Harlan miner, was held in Harlan jail in connection with strike-related food-store raids. The October18 report says attorney Albert Goldman searched the records for four hours and found no charge ever filed. Attorney Stone was pursuing habeas corpus in Pineville. The page-one heading places the miners’ arrests in May, without an exact Epps arrest day.
