The trial and appellate opinions distinguish the April 19 state arrest and actual Noble County jail confinement from the April 21 federal arrest and transfer within the same physical detention. The jury returned guilty verdicts on June 2, 1997; its later death recommendation was distinct from the formal August 14 sentence. The FBI and BOP record the June 11, 2001 execution. BOP code D denotes death, so no release date is entered. The portrait is the individually identified FBI photograph of McVeigh at Waco.
