Biography

Tillie Lakuner was one of six volunteers arrested during the preceding Saturday and Sunday mine-relief tag-day collections. The May 15,1928 Daily Worker says she and Rose Markell were still held after arraignment, each on $500 bail. Lakuner appeared in the Sixth Magistrate Court at 161st Street and Brook Avenue and was held for a May 21 hearing. The bail requirement and future hearing are not proof of physical release; no final verdict or precise custody duration is given.
