Biography

Thomas Richardson was a prisoner at the Eastham Prison Unit in Texas who helped save fellow prisoner Euris Roy Francis during a sugar-cane machinery accident on November 23, 1973. The Black Panther reported that prisoners refused to return to field work in protest at unsafe conditions and that strike leaders, including Richardson, were sent to isolation. It reported that Richardson was later transferred to Retrieve Prison. The account establishes actual prison confinement and punishment linked to a prison labor protest, but does not identify his underlying conviction, initial admission, exact isolation or transfer dates, release, or total time served.
