Biography

Thomas Moss was an Alabama sharecropper imprisoned during repression of the Share Croppers Union after the December 1932 Reeltown confrontation. The December 26 Daily Worker, reporting from Montgomery on December 25, names him among five men brought to Montgomery County Jail on Friday, December 23 by Sheriff Riley of Macon County. Thomas Moss was seriously wounded and placed in the hospital ward with Cliff James and Milo Bentley. The report says the prisoners were held incommunicado. December 23 establishes this transfer into Montgomery custody, not necessarily the initial arrest. Individual formal charges, sentence, eventual release and complete custody length are unestablished.
