Biography

Theodore Turetsky was a garment worker prosecuted during the 1926 New York garment strike. The January 29, 1927 Daily Worker names this defendant among the nineteen striking garment workers sentenced by Judge Otto A. Rosalsky the previous day. Union representatives described the defendants as pickets who had defended themselves against hired attackers and said many had been held under excessive bail before pleading to lesser offenses. The imposed sentence was indefinite penitentiary term; bounds not printed. The issue does not establish this individual’s physical prison admission, final release or total time served. The spelling follows the original newspaper. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1927/1927-ny/v04-n014-NY-jan-29-1927-DW-LOC.pdf#page=1
