Biography

Theodore Lienkiewicz was one of five young Glen Alden Shaft 20 miners and United Anthracite Miners of Pennsylvania local officers whom the April 10, 1935 Daily Worker reported sentenced to five to ten years solitary confinement in Eastern Penitentiary and a $500 fine for allegedly dynamiting strikebreakers homes. The report said company guards supplied evidence and confessions were extracted after brutal beatings at Wyoming barracks. The imposed sentence is not an actual-service total; original arrest date and complete custody duration are unknown. An April 20 report printed Theodore Linkiewitz and explicitly said he remained in Eastern Penitentiary under the same five-to-ten-year dynamiting sentence while other union leaders were paroled.
