Biography

Tadeusz Kurowski was a miner and Polish-language worker correspondent in Logan, West Virginia. A roommate’s letter dated January 14, quoted in the January 27, 1926 Daily Worker, reports his actual arrest and beating. The letter date establishes that the reported incident had occurred by then; it is not an arrest date. Formal charges, custody endpoints and completed detention are unresolved. He is not identified with the unrelated deportee John Charles Hicke, whose aliases include Kurowsky.
