Biography

Sydney Clifford was one of22 Greenpeace activists federally charged after the September12,2019 Fred Hartman Bridge protest against fossil-fuel exports. The DOJ individually listed Clifford, age21 of Portland,Oregon, among defendants described as in state custody on September13. The federal defendants actually walked free on personal-recognizance bonds September14. The exact individual arrest and initial jail-admission days remain uncertain; the protest day alone is not proof of Clifford's booking that day. No prison sentence was imposed; subsequent dismissal history remains as previously recorded.

Individual booking precision review October13,2026: The original DOJ announcement individually identifies Clifford among September13 defendants described as in state custody, without an exact admission date. Contemporaneous KPRC roster text instead lists the similarly spelled name as not yet in custody with a warrant. The event-wide September12 date cannot resolve this individual timing conflict: arrest/admission are now month precision and the unsupported2-day total is cleared. ABC13's original executed-release account confirms the already stored September14 endpoint. The KPRC mugshots identify other defendants, not Clifford; the photo gap remains unresolved.

Case

Charges: Aiding and abetting obstruction of navigable waters.
Arrested: September 2019
Incarcerated: September 2019
Released: Sep 14, 2019
Sentence: Brief September2019 detention, followed by actual September14 personal-recognizance release confirmed in original ABC13 reporting. DOJ's September13 announcement individually names Clifford among defendants described as in state custody, but does not establish the exact arrest or first admission day. A contemporaneous KPRC roster separately lists Sydney Lae Cliffard as not in custody with a warrant, conflicting with treating all defendants as booked September12. Therefore arrest and initial admission remain month precision, with September1 only a storage placeholder; the unsupported exact2-day total is cleared. No missing individual mugshot is substituted from another defendant. Prior subsequent dismissal history retained, not reverified by this date correction.
