Biography

Stella Bonifini was the wife of a striking Ohio miner and mother of five children. A St. Clairsville worker’s letter in the Daily Worker, July 25, 1931, page 3 reports police arrested her for allegedly throwing stones at strikebreakers. It says she insisted her five babies accompany her and went to jail with them. The source supplies no individual children’s names or ages and no exact arrest day. Enlarged original confirms Bonifini, not an OCR-generated Bortini. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1931/v08-n178-NY-jul-25-1931-DW-LOC.pdf
