Biography

Stanley Kubiack, a seventeen-year-old coal miner and prosecution witness in the Venturato labor case, was arrested July 8, 1922 and held alone for two days after denying knowledge of the killing, according to Max Salzman’s article. It quotes him saying fear and the wish to go home caused his account and describes threats that he would be sent to prison unless he accused Venturato. His earlier Boys’ Industrial School confinement for theft is separate from this coercive witness detention. The exact discharge day and complete detention length are not established.
