Biography

An on-site account identifies a sixteen-year-old called Shorty, wearing glasses, on Pontiac’s Dawson Mill Pond work-relief project. After working the morning he refused further labor without cash wages and encouraged fellow workers to demand fifty cents an hour rather than groceries. Police summoned by project supervisors seized him, dragged him into a locked police wagon and drove away. The source supplies only this nickname, no precise date, statutory charge, verdict, or physical release.
