Biography

Semion Towstick, also printed as S. Towstick, was arrested with Communist literature in his possession, according to the Boston entry in the 1920 congressional case summary. He acknowledged joining the Russian branch two or three months before the hearing and selling Novy Mir, while denying that he was a party officer. Those months describe membership, not imprisonment. Officials recommended deportation, but the warrant was canceled March 22. Exact arrest and physical release dates and complete actual detention duration remain unknown.
