Biography
Sayfullo Saipov was convicted on January 26, 2023 of federal offenses arising from the October 31, 2017 truck attack in lower Manhattan. On May 17, 2023 he received eight consecutive life sentences, two concurrent life sentences, and an additional consecutive 260 years.

Custody update
The DOJ documents Saipov being taken into custody after the October 31, 2017 attack, initially under guard in hospital. Its November 21, 2017 indictment announcement states he was ordered detained and had remained in federal custody since arrest. The BOP locator currently lists Sayfullo Habibull Saipov, register 79715-054, at USP Florence ADMAX, with a life term and no actual release date. The custody counter includes the initial guarded hospitalization.
