Biography
Sarah Peisch was an environmental activist and English teacher at Puerto Rico’s Polytechnic University who opposed U.S. Navy operations in Vieques. A contemporary Vieques Libre update identifies Peisch as still detained on the Sunday night after the May 13, 2000 Navy-land protest and attributes the named detainee report to a telephone call from Peisch.
The source supports historical overnight detention, but no individual prison sentence or precise release date. Primera Hora’s January 10, 2008 obituary reports death the preceding day. The reported age at death is not used to invent a birth date.
