Biography

S. Russell Gibboney was a Republic Steel employee on strike in Youngstown. He testified that police arrested him June 21, 1937 while he was moving hunting and target guns from his home. A Senate-report footnote says he was released after three days in jail. The committee rejected publicity photographs falsely labeling smoke bombs as dynamite from his home: the objects were not dynamite and had not been found on his premises. No conviction or formal criminal count is established.
