Biography
Ruth Williams was one of the Buffalo, New York workers jailed in 1930 for demanding "work or wages" in the unemployment demonstrations, drawing a sentence of six months and a $50 fine.
Daily Worker, June 23, 1936, page 3: The Buffalo defense report says Ruth Williams received fifty days in jail for distributing leaflets at an Italian fascist victory celebration, with sentencing conducted in the absence of her attorney. Four others were charged for carrying signs. This is a distinct 1936 prosecution; it does not replace her 1930 unemployment-demonstration sentence.
