Biography

Roy Orgon was a Minneapolis labor organizer associated with Local 544-CIO’s Federal Workers Section, which organized workers employed on Works Progress Administration projects. He was active in the 1939 WPA strike. At the 1941 Smith Act trial he testified that he was not a Socialist Workers Party member and expressed solidarity with his co-defendants. On December 1, 1941, the jury acquitted him on both counts. No Smith Act prison sentence was imposed; any brief pretrial custody has not been quantified.
