Biography

The July 22 issue reports arrest at the Friday July 19, 1929 demonstration outside the Nanking consulate, 13 Astor Place, New York, opposing action against the Soviet Union. The case was heard by Magistrate Hyman Bushel with ILD attorney Jacques Buitenkant defending. Both page 5 lists identify her among people fined and serving two days rather than paying. The original complete arrest-to-release interval is not separately established. The issue contains inconsistent counts and disposition lists across pages 1 and 5; those conflicts are preserved without manufacturing a final discharge date or full original custody total.
