The July 11 report identified Rose Plotkin as a Young Pioneer detained at the Heckscher Foundation after the July 3 anti-imperialist demonstration. Magistrate Samuel D. Levy ordered her returned to Indiana and found Fanny Plotkin unfit as guardian. The story calls Rose twelve in one passage and thirteen in another; no precise age is inferred. Her release that day was announced prospectively, not confirmed. Daily Worker, July 11, 1928, original PDF page 1.
