Biography

Robert Thaxton (aka Rob los Ricos, ricos meaning "the rich" in spanish) is an anarchist who was sentenced to seven years for throwing a rock at a police officer during a "International Day Against Global Capitalism" protest in Eugene, Oregon. That sentence is the longest sentence handed out to a protestor that day internationally, and many claim the judge gave him an unfairly long sentence to intimidate other protestors.

Earth First! Journal reports that on January 9, 2003, Thaxton and Brian McCarvill received four-month disciplinary-segregation sanctions at Oregon State Penitentiary over a circle-A mail-policy protest. Thaxton attributed the action to their anarchist views.

Case

San Quentin Rehabilitation Center
Charges: Assault Riot
Arrested: Jun 18, 1999
Incarcerated: Jun 18, 1999
Released: Jun 29, 2006
Sentence: Served approximately seven years following the Eugene Reclaim the Streets prosecution. A pre-release interview identifies June 18, 1999 as the arrest and beginning of jail confinement; Black Flag’s contemporary support notice confirms he remained jailed two months later. The June 29, 2006 actual release is confirmed retrospectively on his own site, reproducing Anarchy #62 (Fall–Winter 2006); the June 28 advance notice alone is not used as actual release evidence. Sources disagree on the sentencing day and exact components of the sentence, which remain unresolved.
