Biography

Robert Talmanson was a Vietnam-era draft resister convicted of failing to comply with orders to report for a physical examination and military induction. Contemporary CCCO rosters document his imprisonment at Petersburg in1968.

Earlier trial and verdict

The June 19, 1967 CNVA newsletter reports a June 6 federal trial in Boston and a June 7 jury verdict on refusal to take a physical examination and refusal to report for induction. June 21 was a future sentencing date, not proof that sentencing occurred then. These earlier proceedings precede his separately documented May 1968 sanctuary arrest; neither a 1967 prison-entry day nor a release is established here.

The Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors’ November–December 1968 News Notes lists Robert Talmanson among its current prisoners at Petersburg. This contemporary roster corroborates actual confinement during the issue’s reporting period. It is a dated custody observation, not an admission, release, transfer date or measure of total time served.
