Biography
Robert Morse Lovett, a University of Chicago professor, observed the Sopkin dress strike with ACLU representative Thomas McKenna. After police attacked orderly pickets, both questioned the police and were arrested Monday, June 26, 1933, confined in a crowded filthy cell and released the next morning on $25 bonds. The June 27 dispatch reports their jury-trial request on disorderly-conduct charges granted. His name is retained as printed Morse; no unsupported Morss substitution or final verdict is inferred.
