Biography
Robert Crabtree was the spokesman of an unemployed delegation protesting the eviction of Kate Shelton, a widow with five children, in Clinton, Indiana. The November 8, 1932 Daily Worker reports that police knocked him down and arrested him with eight others on an inciting-to-riot accusation. The report advertises trial for November 9; that announcement does not prove the trial occurred. No exact jail admission, physical discharge date or total custody duration is supplied.
