Biography

Robert A. Tucker was a defendant in an Elmira, New York murder prosecution with Dennis Goodwin. In a signed letter published in The Black Panther in February 1978, he said he had been arrested on March 7, 1977 and held while investigators tested evidence and the case proceeded to trial. Tucker alleged that negative forensic results and conflicting witness testimony were disregarded, that witnesses were paid or pressured, and that an all-white jury convicted them of second-degree murder. He said he refused an offer of a misdemeanor and immediate release in exchange for testifying against Goodwin. His account characterized the prosecution as a racist frame-up. The source does not supply his sentence or eventual release date.
