Biography

Rev. Bill Hogan was jailed following an anti-nuclear protest at the LaSalle nuclear power plant in Illinois. A contemporary June 1983 report records an April 20 trespass conviction and a thirty-day contempt sentence after the two defendants spoke about the dangers of nuclear power despite the judge's order. An additional fifteen-day trespass sentence followed. Both were released on appeal bond on May 23, 1983.

Separate 1983 custody evidence and limits

The LaSalle report distinguishes April 20, 1983 trespass convictions, thirty-day contempt sentences for speaking about nuclear power against the judge’s order, and additional fifteen-day trespass sentences that were appealed. It explicitly reports both people released on appeal bond May 23 after serving the contempt sentences. That discharge is already stored. It gives no separate exact physical-admission day or proof that all forty-five imposed days were actually served; no new counter or additional custody episode is created.

The Nuclear Resister No.17, June 6, 1983, original pages 4.

The LaSalle account individually names both defendants: trespass conviction April 20, 1983, and they were sent to jail for contempt after prohibited closing statements. The April month-only admission is refined to April 20, with actual May 23 appeal-bond release preserved. The underlying June 1982 action is month precision only here. Thirty nominal contempt days differ from 33 elapsed days between these independently reported endpoints; no extra consecutive term is added to that counter.
