Biography
Regina Burruss was arrested in New Haven on November 11, 1969 after asking why police had arrested a woman putting up posters for the Black Panther Party’s Free Breakfast Program. In a first-person account signed Elise, the December 6 Black Panther reported that police grabbed Burruss, who was five months pregnant, and beat her with clubs. This contemporary account supports actual police custody during the protest, but gives no charge, station or jail transfer, duration, release date or final disposition.
