Biography
Raymond Sarocco was the Chicago correspondent for Unita Operaia and an organizer of Works Progress Administration workers. A September 2, 1935 report names him among people still jailed following the Hands Off Ethiopia protest. It states that immigration officials were seeking a basis to deport him to Italy; the report does not establish a completed deportation or a release date.
The Chicago report names the Unita Operaia representative among those arrested in the August 31 anti-war demonstration. The later report already in this profile establishes continuing detention; this issue does not establish his individual discharge. Daily Worker, September 2, 1935, original PDF page 1. The individually named still-held passage verifies actual detention. No exact arrest or admission day is forced from the date of the wider demonstration or newspaper dispatch. Immigration threats are not treated as completed removal.
The report’s accusations are not convictions. Birth and death dates, other imprisonment, unreported release timing and total custody duration remain unverified. No demographic attributes, ideology category or organizational affiliation taxonomy is inferred.
