Biography

Phil McManus was individually named among seven Pacific Life Community anti-nuclear protesters arrested inside Lockheed’s Sunnyvale building April 15, 1983 after a symbolic bread-baking action. They were held in jail over the weekend and arraigned the following Monday, April 18. Six, including this person, were credited with four days and physically released. April 15–18 spans three elapsed days; four credited inclusive days are not four elapsed days. Larry Purcell’s longer term is not assigned to this person. The statutory charge is not printed.

The Nuclear Resister No.17, June 6, 1983, original page 3.

Individually named actual political custody is established. Forecasts, nominal sentences, court credits and physical jail service are distinguished. Missing endpoints, vital dates and demographic attributes remain unfilled; no present custody state is inferred from a historical report.

The participant account explicitly says the seven were arraigned the Monday following April 15, 1983; six were sentenced to four credited days and ordered physically released. Larry Purcell instead received ten nominal days and was released four days later. April 18 is sentencing, while the individually recorded actual custody endpoints and elapsed counters remain unchanged.
