Biography

Chairman of the Meigs County Unemployed League, individually named among leaders jailed by Sheriff Art Tracy during suppression of the Ohio unemployed movement. James Rorty’s account describes eighteen arrests in Pomeroy and Dennington in May 1934, with eight including Bolen seized first and ten more later. The leaders were subsequently out on $200 peace bonds. The article’s Wednesday May 10 dating does not align reliably with the calendar and is not converted into an exact arrest or release day.
