Source document: The August 12, 2007 May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society dedication program, pages 1–4, records Rev. Dr. Nicholas C. Cardell Jr. as parish minister from 1974 to 1995. These are years of ministerial service, not birth, death or incarceration dates. The program includes a photograph of the commemorative portrait wall but no independently established individual portrait-position key in its text. This review preserves the wall photograph and roster as context without assigning faces from the group display. It supplies no additional custody or vital dates.
The April 27, 1998 petition by clemency counsel Debra K. Hannula places this defendant among the January 1998 Fort Benning illegal-re-entry convictions before Judge Elliott, carrying six months and a $3,000 fine. Its January 22 trial/sentencing account differs by one day from an earlier January 21 news report, so the new sentencing field uses month precision rather than choosing an unresolved day. The individual biography confirms March 23, 1998 prison entry. The biography describes his Unitarian Universalist ministry in Syracuse and community work. His three months as a World War II prisoner of war are a distinct foreign wartime episode and are not added to his U.S. protest custody. These records concern a request for clemency; they do not establish that a pardon or commutation was granted.
