Biography

Nat London was a Newark teacher and reporter who personally described imprisonment at the Essex County Penitentiary during enforcement of an injunction against the Newark Teachers Union’s strikes. In a January 21, 1972 article, London states that groups transported to the penitentiary on December 15 and December 23, 1971 included “this reporter.” The account demonstrates actual holiday-period confinement, but it does not identify which date was London’s individual transport date, his exact duration, or his particular imposed term.
