Biography

Nat Leventhal was a New York dress-strike picket. The December 11, 1929 Daily Worker reports that he was stabbed in the hand by a gangster identified as Schneid while picketing the Watner and Friedman shop, arrested, and taken to court among fifteen pickets. Weak from blood loss, he was supported by friends. Three pickets, including Leventhal, received $10 fines or three days in jail; ten received suspended sentences. The article does not establish payment of his fine, actual service of the three-day alternative, jail admission or physical release. The reported yesterday arrest is December 10. No birth date or family relationship is inferred. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1929/1929-nat/v06-n238-NAT-dec-11-1929-DW-Q.pdf#page=2
