Biography

Naomi “Nomi” Isaac is a Richmond organizer with the Virginia Student Power Network and Black Alliance for Peace. On March 11, 2024, Isaac joined a Palestine-solidarity action that blocked Interstate 95 and Interstate 64 near Richmond. Nine demonstrators locked themselves together with ladders and “sleeping dragon” devices to demand an end to U.S. support for Israel’s war in Gaza. Virginia State Police arrested Isaac and the other participants. On June 24, 2024, Richmond General District Court Judge Mansi Shah convicted eight participants, including Isaac, of stopping traffic and imposed five days in jail and a $300 fine. Isaac told the court that the action was intended to oppose war and connect Palestinian liberation with Black and Indigenous struggles.
