Biography
Monk Teba was the communications secretary of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party and wrote poetry and columns for the party newspaper. Police arrested him on December 21, 1970 after a white Indiana University professor caught with a stolen typewriter claimed that a Panther named Monk Teba had given it to him. Teba was charged with grand theft and possession of stolen property and held on $7,000 bail. His legal name, exact release date and final disposition have not been located.
The Black Panther reported that Illinois Panther communications secretary Monk Teba was arrested in Chicago on December 21, 1970 on a grand-theft accusation concerning a typewriter.
